about

Inspired by the story of an ex-couple who went to court and the papers over the rights to some frozen fertilised eggs. Something of a medie storm encircled the couple in the UK, and everyone had an opinion, whilst nobody really knew them or what had happened between them.
Articles asked people who they thought was in the right, and whilst the man was largely vilified, the woman was accused by one journalist of 'mourning something that did not really exist - hence the pun-heavy title.

lyrics

Early Mourning

She wants her own
That’s what she’s hoping
She wants to have
What they both tried before

And people say
What the papers say
‘Cause the papers say
What they believe

And now it feels like early mourning
But there’s a fever in this mourning

He wants to know
That he has closed the door
He wants to know
What she’s still fighting for

And people say
What the papers say
‘Cause the papers say
What they believe

And now it feels like early mourning
But there’s a fever in this mourning

Waiting for a son
That’ll never rise

And now it feels like early mourning
But there’s a fever in this mourning
